I am excited to share with you that this year’s big fundraising event will be online!
In recent years we have held a traditional Fall gala and have truly enjoyed mingling with our generous community to share our mission of delivering healthy meals to cancer patients and their caregivers. We also know that both organizing an event and attending one can be costly, which is why we have planned a “No Gala, Gala!” You have the night off to relax with family and friends, but hopefully, still think of us!
Our program’s growth recently surpassed 17,000 meals delivered at no cost to recipients. Meals are provided to all in need, regardless of income status or age. We are mindful of the sensitivity of the cancer patient’s palate and therefore carefully select everything from soups and broths to entrees, sides, and healthy desserts with them in mind.
As is true with everyone’s budget, the expenses associated with our service have also increased. The cost of everything from the ingredients we cook with (mostly organic) to kitchen appliances, meal packaging, personal protective items, marketing materials, and payroll must be covered by grants and fundraising activities. We are 100% dependent on the generosity of others to cover those expenses.
Our goal in this online fundraising campaign is to raise $50,000 from donations, which will cover the majority of program expenses for approximately three months. We are also partnering with CHEF (Community Health and Education Foundation) who will contribute $1.00 for every $2.00 we raise. Their match enables the campaign to reach up to $75K in total donations!
